PROPOSED ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

Children, like adults, need time to adjust and adapt to changes. It is perfectly normal for children to cry on the first few days or weeks of school, especially when it is their first time in a school environment. To help children adapt quickly, we strongly encourage the child’s caregiver to be present on the first 3 days of the child’s attendance at the centre.  This recommendation is applicable to children who are joining in our PN – N1 classes. We advise the following schedule to help new children settle in.

1st day   child attends ½ day + caregiver in the room

2nd day   child attends ¾ day + caregiver in the room

3rd day   child attends full day + caregiver away from the room

(Subjected to every child's level of adaption, hence may vary case by case)

We endeavour to work closely with parents to help ease the child in quickly.  During this transition period (may be up to 2 weeks or a month), teachers will keep parents informed via phone calls to update them with regards to the child's progress i.e. settling time, food intake, nap, playing and learning with friends etc. Once the child is settled in, future communication and updates with parents can be through communication book, or phone calls when necessary.
